About the CPAP Store

In 2015, Al and Amanda Thomas began researching the possibility of creating their own home equipment store. After an opportunity to purchase a local established company, the idea was put on hold for a while. In 2017, an opportunity to branch out on their own presented itself. Taking the step of faith and trusting in God, Al left his position as Chief Operating Officer of a local company, invested in the dream, and opened the CPAP Store.

Al is a seasoned Registered Respiratory Therapist with 20+ years in the industry. He started his career in 1996 after graduating from Okefenokee Technical Institute in Waycross, Georgia. He started his first job with Coffee Regional Medical Center as a staff Respiratory Therapist. After a year, he decided the "hospital life" was not what he was passionate about. At that time, he began working for Rotech in the Douglas offices in 1998. In 2000, he was offered a management position with Barnes Healthcare Services of Waycross. It was here, he really found his calling, PAP Therapy. While at Barnes Healthcare Services, he served in many roles including branch manager, marketing, Project Manager, Program Development Director, and others. In 2010, Al left Barnes and began working for Vein Specialists of South Georgia as the office manager. Here, he developed the Respiratory Program for the office which included Pulmonary Function Testing and Home Sleep Studies. In 2014, Al once again entered the medical equipment industry when he accepted a position as Chief Operating Officer with a Medical Equipment Company. In 2017, Al formed and opened the CPAP Store along side his wife, Amanda.

Amanda has been involved in accounting since graduating High School in 2000. She spent many years with Coley Electric & Plumbing Supply in Waycross where she processed Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Payroll. During this time she developed a style of accounting that has kept every company she has worked for profitable. After leaving Coley Electric & Plumbing Supply, she spent time with Voith Fabrics in Waycross handling the payroll division. In 2007, after giving birth to their first child, Amanda accepted a position with Brunel Street Church of God as the administrative assistant in handling the church finances. In 2010, Amanda returned to the business world and accepted a position as Financial Coordinator for Southeast Georgia Primary Care (now Elite Primary Care Offices) where she continues today. Her role with the CPAP Store involves financial accountability and CFO as she oversees the financial processes of the company. In 2021, Amanda officially joined The CPAP Store as a full-time employee.
